June – July 2019
The He Lab hosted summer internships on “sustainable energy materials” for two high-school students, Nolan Hamel and Jonathan Norris, from South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, in collaboration with the SPRI (Summer Program for Research Interns) program.
July – August 2019
The He Lab hosted an incoming freshman, Will Franklin, to participate in research projects of rechargeable batteries, under the EUREKA! (Experiences in Undergraduate Research, Exploration and Knowledge Advancement) Program.
June – July 2020
The He Lab hosted virtual summer internships during the COVID-19 pandemic for two high-school students, José Montés and Grant Mondeel, from South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, in collaboration with the SPRI program. The team leveraged state-of-the-art software packages to remotely work on a project of “crystal growth and model-based simulation”.
July 2021
The He Lab organized a special science class of “Foldscope” for the K-8 Clemson Summer Camp students in the local Pickens County School Community. Dr. He and his team guided the elementary school students to make portable microscopes by paper folding and use them to look at tiny things in real-world lives.
June – August 2022
The He Lab hosted Xinyi Xie, a rising high-school senior from Sage Hill School, through the Summer Research (“Shadow”) program. She worked on image processing for in situ TEM.
June – August 2023
The He Lab hosted Ava Zoba, a undergrad from Pennsylvania State Univeristy, through the CCAM Materiasl REU program to conduct summer research at UCI. Ava worked on rapid microwave synthesis of LLZO solid electrolytes and presented her work in the UCI SURF Research Symposium.
